People Who Are Happy Because of the Gospel (Colossians 4:7–14) 8/31/2025
What is happiness? Most people think it means living a more comfortable and leisurely life. They believe that if they work hard and gain more income, that leisure will come. Then they think they’ll be able to do what they want with their family and in old age (first instinct).
Some, who live on a higher level, think happiness means living a more valuable life. They focus on realizing their worth and the meaning of their existence. They focus on the desire to fulfill their dreams and visions (second instinct).
But what is happiness for a person of God? There must be this standard. It is focusing on whether I am used by the God who saved me and prepared my eternal future, and whether I can live to glorify Him, and enjoying the happiness that comes from that (third instinct).
This is the happiness God gave when He created humanity. He created us in His image (Genesis 1:27), as spiritual beings (Genesis 2:7). As a result, came the 5 blessings of Genesis 1:28. The first three are: (1) “be fruitful” (to see fruit and income fitting to our labor), (2) “multiply” (to raise posterity and increase all mankind), (3) “fill the earth” (to have the earth filled with God’s glory). The remaining two are mission and blessing: to subdue the earth and rule over it. “Subdue” does not mean destroy the world, but “manage and develop” it according to God’s will (cultivate). From this comes “God’s culture.” “Rule” means living as one who governs, not as one dragged around by the world and its things. From the beginning, humans were created to rule the world and creation. But Adam and Eve lost all of this in Genesis 3 through their fall (that is the curse of Genesis 3, and it continues even now).
1. The mystery God gave to us to recover this blessing is Christ (the gospel, salvation).
1) God sent His Son as the Christ (Colossians 1). In Him we received redemption and were transferred into the kingdom of God’s Son (Colossians 1:13–14). Our status and belonging under sin, curse, and the dominion of darkness were changed and restored (Romans 8:15–17 “heirs”).
2) In Him, God put all things. That is why He is called God’s mystery and treasure (Colossians 2). Whoever receives Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells in them, giving His life, authority, and power. When we face problems in the world, He promised wisdom and knowledge to overcome and to discover His blessings in them (1 Corinthians 2:10–12).
3) He accomplished all salvation on this earth (John 19:30) and ascended to the heavenly throne (Colossians 3). There He intercedes for us (Romans 8:26, 8:34) and prepares a new heaven and new earth (Rev 22:5). Until then, we are to seek and save those to be saved, heal them, raise them as disciples, and relay it to the next generation. The Lord of the throne works with us in this (Mark 16:19–20) and promised to be with us until the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).
4) We are to enjoy this blessing through prayer (Colossians 4). Be devoted to prayer, be watchful in it with thanksgiving (Colossians 4:2–4). ① Then the door for evangelism will open, and we can boldly proclaim the mystery of Christ (world evangelization begins with prayer). Since He has gone to the throne, we can now pray in His name, do His work, and can do even greater works (John 14:12). ② By this power of prayer, all weakness, wounds, conflicts, and crises can be turned into blessings (Mark 9:29). God promised to set watchmen over our prayers and work without rest (Isaiah 62:6–8).
2. Today’s passage shows models of people who enjoyed this blessing and lived happily. They became those who enjoyed God’s blessing, were used by Him, and are remembered by Him (written in Scripture for this reason). They revived the churches in their regions, helped Paul, the evangelist of their age, and participated in world evangelization. Many names appear in the passage, but their characteristics can be summarized in three ways.
1) They were called beloved brothers (Tychicus in v.7, Onesimus in v.9). ① One of the emotions that makes us feel happiness is feeling that “I am loved by someone” and “I love someone.” Those who have been loved and have tasted happiness in love can also go and love others. ② The important question is where does that love begin from? Love between family and friends is important (“philia”). Love between man and woman is important (“eros”). But the root of love begins in the relationship with God, the love enjoyed there (Hebrew “hesed,” Greek “agape”). This is the love given at creation (Isaiah 43:1–4), it was revealed through Christ (Romans 5:8), and still continues today (Romans 8:38–39). ③ Those who long for and experience this love of God can truly love others and continue living as those who are loved. Because the God of love is in me, His love holds me (2 Corinthians 5:14). The more we enjoy Christ’s love and love Him, the more He reveals greater love (John 14:21). Those who love God will also receive people’s love and honor (Luke 2:52, Matthew 10:32).
2) They were those who labored together with the Lord’s servants.
Tychicus, “a fellow servant in the Lord” (v.7), Justus, “a fellow worker for the kingdom of God” (v.11). Epaphras, who labored for the believers in Colossae, Laodicea, and Hierapolis (v.11) ① Every labor I devote to Christ leaves within me the footprints (marks) of Christ (Galatians 6:17). People may not acknowledge that labor. Instead, they may misunderstand or even persecute. But before God, and before the throne of Christ, that labor becomes a more glorious mark. ② None of the labor of the saints on this earth is in vain (1 Corinthians 15:57). We will reap what we sow (Galatians 6:9). So we are told not to store up on earth, but in heaven. To do it in secret and wait for the heavenly reward (Matthew 6:2, 6:4).
3) Their final goal and conclusion was to save people and the world. This is God’s goal and conclusion (John 3:16; 1 Timothy 2:4; Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8). ① In this passage, “Luke, the beloved physician” is mentioned (14). He was loved by God and people, and as a physician, truly healed and saved people (author of Luke and Acts). May such medical workers and healing ministers continue to rise(Medical Missionary). ② In verse 15, Paul greets and blesses “Nympha and the church in her house” (15). This was a happy woman’s home. Her house was used by God (mission home, local church, healing center).
Conclusion - Blessed are those who, in Christ, enjoy love and happiness with God, are used by Him, glorify Him, save others and bring them happiness. These are the people who are happy because of the gospel.
People Who Are Happy Because of the Gospel (Colossians 4:7–14) 8/31/2025 August 31, 2025

Until the Day Christ Returns (Colossians 4:2–6) 8/24/2025
Throughout Colossians, we’ve shared about who Christ is, what He has given us, and where and what He is doing now.
Who is He? He is Christ, who came as the Son of God. As the Son, He redeemed us, and through Him our lives have been transferred from the dominion of darkness into the kingdom of the Son (Colossians 1:13–14).
What did He give us? Through Christ, God gave us the mystery hidden before the ages. That is the blessing of salvation and the mystery of the life he gave us. Those who have this life can enjoy all the wisdom and knowledge of God (Colossians 2:2–3). This blessing is the blessing of spirituality and of becoming a spiritual summit. With this blessing, we can even challenge “300%.”
Where is Christ now? He dwells in us by the Spirit, and at the heavenly throne He helps us with transcendent power beyond time and space, preparing for the day He will return (Colossians 3:4). On that day, all creation will be restored, there will be no more darkness in the world, and we will reign with Him over all things (Revelations 22:5). Until the day He returns to restore the world, what must we do? That is today’s passage.
- Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving (verse 2).
What is prayer? It is the way to enjoy Christ, the Son of God, who came as the mystery hidden for ages, the One who rules and helps us from the heavenly throne until He returns.
1) Continue steadfastly in prayer. The greatest and most essential blessing Christ taught the saved people is prayer (Matthew 6, the Lord’s Prayer). He told us why we pray, what we pray for, and the blessings we enjoy through prayer.
① Jesus Himself continually showed the model of prayer. Before doing anything, He rose early in the morning to pray (Mark 1:35). After important ministries, He would go aside to pray (Matthew 14:22–23). Before taking up the cross for us, He prayed to fulfill the Father’s will (Luke 22:44). Everything He did was in prayer and he fulfilled everything of the Father’s will through prayer.
② When He was leaving the disciples, He earnestly taught them to pray. As he ascended, He gave us the privilege to pray in His name (John 14:12, 16:24). Satan uses every strategy to block our prayers so that we cannot enjoy this blessing. But if prayer becomes our first priority, unimaginable works take place (God’s masterpiece).
③ The Greek word for “continue steadfastly” (proskartereō) teaches at least three things. Do not give up on prayer, continue unceasingly in prayer, and devote yourself to prayer (many English Bibles translate it “Devote”). Satan fears our prayer, so he uses strategies to make us give up. Thus, prayer requires spiritual battle. We have to continuously pray for it to become our lifestyle. Just as health or finances require consistency, so does prayer. And “devotion” means there is no greater devotion than prayer. Prayer itself is the secret to sustained devotion.
2) Be watchful in prayer with thanksgiving. This emphasizes our posture and faith when we pray. Thanksgiving comes from trust and faith in God.
① Pray with the faith that God loves me and hears my prayer. Therefore, continually experience God’s answers to your prayers everyday (John 11:40–41).
② As we enjoy this blessing, we not only give thanks for answered prayer, but also give thanks in advance for future answers. Even in Old Testament feasts, people were commanded to give offerings and thanks not only for blessings received, but also for blessings yet to come(Deuteronomy 16:15).
③ Eventually, we can give thanks in every problem. This is God’s ultimate will (1 Thess 5:16–18). Through thanksgiving in prayer, our inner being is healed, true peace comes, and we can overcome everything (Philippians 4:6–7).
- When we enjoy this blessing of prayer, something surely happens. That is the blessing of evangelism and missions.
At the conclusion of Colossians, Paul asked, “Pray that God may open a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ boldly” (Verse
3). Here we must discover our evangelism and missions. Evangelism and missions are the absolute reason and conclusion for God to first save me, blesse me, and then turn all my life into testimony (Acts 1:8).
1) Make evangelism and missions the goal of your life. ① Make your studies, skills, and career goals for evangelism and missions. This is the mystery to surviving even in the 4th and 5th industrial revolutions. Verse 5 says to “make the best use of the time” in dealing with outsiders, because the end times are near. God Himself takes responsibility for and blesses those who set their direction toward evangelism and missions.
② Pray for your family, children, and church to be used for evangelism and missions. It is not necessary to strive for your children or our remnants to “succeed” in worldly terms. If they are trained to live as evangelists who have and proclaim the mystery of Christ, God will exalt them like Joseph, Daniel, and Esther (this is the reason and goal of Summit School).
③ Especially, missions can change the destiny of nations. This is the secret behind how small England became the leading nation of the 18th century. How America, starting as colonies, led the 19th–20th centuries. And how impoverished Korea was blessed to lead world missions in the 21st century.
2) Do what you can for evangelism and missions. ① God blessed the Colossian church financially to support Paul, and sent co-workers like Epaphras to help him. Just as soldiers need supplies and encouragement from citizens in war, missions needs support.
② Along with that, he urged prayer, which is the most important support. Dedicate yourself to daily prayer for the mission field. When you pray, God goes beyond what you can do to raise watchmen in the missions fields and works transcending time and space (Isaiah 62:6–7).
3) Devote to raising future missionaries. ① From TCKs or remnants in America, future pastors and missionaries must rise who are wholly devoted to missions. This must be one of our church’s focused prayer topics. Raise TCKs as sons and daughters, as future missionaries. ② This is also why Remnant University is so important. Especially in third world countries, there is a dire shortage of trained pastors and missionaries. That’s why our church supports local students with scholarships to study.
Conclusion - We are the ones who hold the mystery of Christ, the greatest answer that overcomes darkness, changes destinies, and saves the world. Until the day Christ return, may you deeply enjoy Christ through prayer more than anyone else, and be used as the main figures who receive answers for evangelism and missions, His ultimate conclusion.
Until the Day Christ Returns (Colossians 4:2–6) 8/24/2025 August 24, 2025
Christ at the Heavenly Throne (Colossians 3:1–11) 8/17/2025
The Son of God, Christ, came to us, redeemed us, and gave us everything the Father has given Him. The life of faith is enjoying this in every problem and event I face on this earth while preparing for eternity.
Where is Christ now? To be precise, He is with us in the Holy Spirit, and as today’s passage says in verse 1, He is seated at the right hand of God’s throne in heaven. We must enjoy both blessings together.
First, we must enjoy the blessing of the Holy Spirit who is with us now. The moment we heard the gospel and accepted Christ, we were sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:3). As the Holy Spirit dwells with us, He gives us evidence. What kind of evidence? The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness (Romans 8:26). He heals all our weaknesses and hidden scars (John 14:16). He teaches us the Word so that we can live according to God’s will, reminds us of the Word (John 14:26), and guides us on the path (journey) God has prepared for us (John 16:13). He fills us with the power of the Holy Spirit so that everything becomes evidence and makes us witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). All this is the work of the Holy Spirit, but in the place of Christ (Romans 8:9 “Spirit of Christ”), so that all of life may glorify Christ (John 16:14). This is the absolute reason we must enjoy the blessings of the Holy Spirit.
Second, as today’s passage says, we must enjoy the blessings that Christ Himself gives us from the heavenly throne (the meaning of the “7 bartizan prayer”).
- Why did Christ ascend to the heavenly throne? There are important biblical and theological reasons.
1) His ascension means He completed all His work of redemption on this earth. This is what Jesus meant when He declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30). He accomplished complete redemption. Calvin said Christ’s ascension was the completion of His earthly ministry and the beginning of His glorious reign as the eternal King.
2) He restored His original eternal ministry of ruling over all creation from the throne. On the day He returns and renews all things, all creation will submit to His reign (Philippians 2:10). At that time, the power of darkness will be completely broken and brought under His feet (Psalm 110:1). There will be no more darkness, and the people of the Lord will reign with Him over all things (Revelation 22:5).
Until that day, who represents Christ on this earth? The Holy Spirit.
3) When Christ went to the throne, the blessing of the Holy Spirit began. That is our benefit and blessing (John 16:7). While He was in the flesh, He was limited by time and space. Now, through the Holy Spirit, He helps us without limitation of time and space.
While the Holy Spirit helps us on earth, what does Christ do at the heavenly throne? 4) He serves as our intercessor at the right hand of God. He mediates for us when we are weak, when we fall, and especially when we pray. He intercedes for us in prayer (Romans 8:34), and He helps us receive answers to our prayers. This is why our prayers reach the throne (Revelation 8:3–4).
5) When He ascended, the church was established on earth through the work of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1–47). He became the head of the church, ruling and protecting it (Ephesians 1:22). Through the pulpit, He blesses the believers, unites them, and connects them to the authority and power of the throne (Acts 2:42). Calvin said the church is the system that connects believers to the heavenly throne, not by human power but by the Word. When we accurately hold onto and believe the Word that flows from the pulpit as God’s Word, His work takes place (1 Thessalonians 2:13).
- Now, what must we do?
1) Look to the throne, experience, and enjoy its blessings and answers. Without this, we remain oppressed by the world and Satan, with no answers or blessings. World evangelization becomes impossible. At best, we just survive in the world. At worst, believers suffer from depression, panic disorder, and mental problems.
① Since you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above (verse 1). The Greek word “seek” (Zeteo) means to set your priorities on Him (Matthew 6:33). This is why we begin the day with the Word and prayer. It also means to search for what was once ours but has been lost (Luke 15:8). Having lost what is most precious, search eagerly. From there comes our spirituality and the blessing of spiritual summit. Desire it and pray for it (John 5:44).
② Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things (verse 2). The Greek word “set your minds” (Phroneo) doesn’t just mean “to think”, but to fix your heart and mind on it continually. It means making the throne the standard of what is precious (your values) and aligning your thoughts and heart to it daily. Make the conclusion that nothing is more valuable than the authority, power, and eternal blessings of the throne. Then everything else follows. This is the believer’s perspective on life. It is a blessing we must build throughout our lifetime (present tense, imperative form).
2) From that point these things follow. Healing and restoration come to your life that is precious before God. As you are filled with God’s things, all earthly things, hidden scars, greed, and failures are healed. As you wait for this blessing, there are challenges to face (the word “challenge” means “to fight, to attempt something new”).
① Put to death what belongs to your earthly nature(verse 5-6). Keep fighting spiritually (against yourself, the world, and Satan behind it). These endlessly arise from our old selves (impurity, lust, evil desires, greed). These cause us to fail and bring shame. Because of them, God’s wrath (discipline) comes (verse 6).
② Rid yourselves of anger, rage, malice, slander, filthy language, and lies (verse 8–11). This means continuously training yourself to put off the old self and put on the new (Ephesians 4:22–24, “re-habituation”). Controlling the heart and the tongue is truly difficult. It can either curse us or bless us (1 Peter 3:10, Psalm 109:17, Matthew 7:2). What we choose and sow will determine what we reap (Galatians 6:7).
③ Toward everyone going through this process, be gentle, patient, forgiving, and loving (verse 12–14). Love is the belt that makes everything complete. Christ died for us in this love (atonement). In this same love He waits, and by this love He makes us complete (1 Corinthianss 13:1–7).
3) As we live this life, we give life to others. ① I live, my spouse lives, my parents and children live, and everyone I meet at work lives (verse 18–25). ② To this end, Scripture emphasizes something. As you enjoy th blessing of the throne, “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (verse17). Do everything in Christ’s name and give Him glory.
Conclusion - The blessings of the throne I enjoy, and the blessings that heal and restore me lead to true evangelism and happy missions (Colossians 4).

The Mystery of God, Christ (Colossians 2:1–7) 8/10/2025
Last week, through Colossians chapter 1, we shared the Word about Christ, the Son of God. Humans cannot solve its fundamental and spiritual problems by ourselves, so God Himself came in the form of the Son to be our Savior. Therefore, He alone is our only salvation (Only), our only answer and blessing (Uniqueness), and the one who can renew our life and the world (Re-creation). In this, we have been saved, and God desires to use our lives in the same way as a system of only, uniqueness, and re-creation. Then, our life becomes God’s eternal masterpiece. Colossians chapter 2 explains - when did God prepare this blessing? For whom did He prepare it? How will He complete it? This is the mystery of God. Verse 2 says that Christ is that mystery of God. What does “mystery” mean? It doesn’t simply mean a secret. It means something that is so important and perfectly prepared. Therefore, our salvation is important and perfectly prepared. Then, what does our life, having received such salvation, mean?
- What is this mystery of God in Christ?
1) It was hidden from eternity past but has now been revealed (Romans 16:25–26). Saying it was hidden from eternity past means Christ was prepared before the creation of world and humen.
① What does it mean for God to have already prepared salvation even before man sinned and fell? It means that God created man as a free being (with free will) able to choose good or evil. He prepared blessings to enjoy when choosing good, and curses and judgment when choosing evil (Romans 5:12). But that’s not the end.
② Even when man chose evil, God could not leave him be. So, He had already prepared the way of salvation (God’s absolute love). What about our life now? We have lost the ability to choose good (Romans 3:10–12, John 6:44). That is why God sent His Son as the Christ and opened the way to restore everything if we just believe in his redemption (God’s absolute grace).
2) This mystery is something that cannot be known or understood by anyone except the chosen (Matthew 13:14, 1 Corinthians 2:7–8).
① These are called “the remained” or “the remnant,” (Revelation 11:5, “those chosen by grace”).
② In Revelation, the 144,000 are the chosen and remained ones by grace (Revelation 7:4). Satan does evil things to try to take away their faith, but the saints are washed by the blood of the Lamb in tribulation (Revelation 7:14), and they will be the ones to hold firmly to faith in Christ to the end, and become victors (Revelation 14:12).
3) God placed all His fullness in Christ (Colossians 1:19, 2:9).
① God put His life, authority, and power, things only He can give, into Christ. Those who receive Christ receive that life, authority, and power with Him. That is why we are called Christ’s ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20) and royal priests (1 Peter 2:9). We have God’s DNA. We have the authority to overcome the power of the world and darkness, and the power to give life and blessings to all. When we realize this, use it, and share it, it appears as evidence (evangelism and missions).
② In Him are hidden all the treasures of God’s wisdom and knowledge(Verse 3). What are these treasures? It is understanding God’s deep plan in ordinary times and in times of problems and crises. God lets us understand this when we pray (Jeremiah 33:3). The Holy Spirit helps us from within (1 Corinthians 12:10–12).
③ In short, this is called spirituality. Those who enjoy this mystery are called spiritual summits. Joseph, sold as a slave, enjoyed this blessing. His master recognized it, the prison warden recognized it, and the king recognized it (Genesis 41:39). The uneducated 12 disciples and the nameless saints in Mark’s Upper Room enjoyed this blessing and saved the world (Acts 2:1–4). This is the great work God truly desires to do through us (Acts 2:11) and becomes the eternal masterpiece (Revelation 7:9–11).
- Now the only thing that remains is to experience and enjoy this mystery. How and what should we do?
1) Enjoy this mystery today, in daily life (24), and in every problem and event (25).
① At the start of each day, find today’s Word, prayer, and evangelism. What is the first routine you do in the morning? During the day, in all problems, events, and meetings, find God’s good plan. In the evening, always have time for meditation. Look back on your day, gain strength from the Word, and receive healing.
② A life in which this happens cannot be deceived. The salvation we have received and the answers and blessings we will enjoy are enormous (mystery). Satan will try to deceive us so we cannot enjoy it. He will make us fall into discouragement, temptation, giving up, and despair. How does Satan deceive? He makes us fail through our greed. He leads us into unbelief through worldly philosophy, knowledge, and temptation. He isolates us through conflicts and disappointments with people.
③ But if we focus on and enjoy this mystery of God in every problem and event, what will be the result? Every problem will instead become a time to root deeply in the gospel and stand firm in faith (verse 7 beginning). In the end, everything will become a reason for thanksgiving and God’s eternal masterpiece (verse 7 end).
2) Enjoy this mystery in your occupation (studies, job, business).
① When you live with the confession and faith that only Christ is your Lord and your blessing (Only), there is a promised blessing (Psalm 16:2–6). It is the blessing of uniqueness. God will honor you as precious, protect, and bless all you do, and it will become an inheritance of joy from God. Even when the world is difficult, there are special blessings to enjoy in your studies, job, and business.
② There, through you, God will connect people who will come alive and be used together as disciples of Christ. Your life will be a witness. You will meet people like yourself, and people who will be used like you. You don’t need many people. Meeting even one can become a lifelong co-worker and blessing.
3) From now on, challenge the blessing of 300% in whatever you do.
① Do the rightful, obvious things. When done by someone holding onto God’s mystery, it becomes inevitable and absolute. What you do as a matter of course and what seems to happen by chance will someday all be seen as blessings.
② The standard for the blessing we enjoy is called 300%. One day, I come alive and am happy (100%). Through me, in my field (home, children, job, business), people hear the gospel, come alive, and become happy (100%). God sends such a person to all nations, TCKs, and the world (100%).
Conclusion – Those who realize and look to Christ are those who have God’s mystery. It is that precious and prepared. In these last days, though we live amidst many difficulties, tribulations, and problems, may your life enjoy the mystery of God and become that mystery of God.
The Mystery of God, Christ (Colossians 2:1–7) Colossians 2:1–7

Christ Who Came as the Son (Colossians 1:13–20) 8/3/2025
Paul’s prison epistles include Ephesians, Philippians, and beginning this week, we will look into Colossians. These prison letters are important because it contains the mystery by which Paul, though imprisoned, was able to be full of joy and thanksgiving, and received even greater answers and blessings while in prison. This is the salvation we have received, the gospel given to us for that salvation, and the mystery of Christ.
Colossians is a letter sent to the Church of Colossae. While Paul was staying in Ephesus for three years planting a church, a man named Epaphras heard the gospel and later returned to his hometown of Colossae to plant a church. Just like other churches in the Early Church era, the Church of Colossae had serious problems. There was external persecution, but more seriously, false doctrines and heresies were infiltrating the church. This has always been Satan’s tactic to destroy the church, and something Jesus Himself warned against (Matthew 24:7–13, 1 John 2:22). The doctrinal confusion and heresies came in at least three forms (Greek philosophy and secularism, Jewish legalism and tradition, Gnosticism with mysticism, asceticism, and angel worship).
Their true goal was to deny that Christ alone is everything. The moment we lose hold of only Christ, Satan rushes into the individual and the church, and spiritual problems begin to arise. Satan does not fear our knowledge, legalistic deeds, or ascetic lifestyle. In fact, he may temporarily allow worldly success to deceive us (Matthew 4:1–11). That is how Satan has brought down churches throughout history. Even now, many churches worldwide are shutting down.
- Why must it be only Christ? We must take this answer and conclusion.
It is because our knowledge, actions, and effort are not enough, that God sent His Son as the Christ. In verses 13–14, how does it describe the salvation we received through Christ?
1) God rescued us from the domain of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His Son (13). What is the firsts step of salvation? It is escaping the spiritual problem that began in Genesis 3.
① Satan deceived Adam and Eve, making them fall into pride, disbelieve God, and disobey Him. Being deceived by Satan, humanity sinned and was thus separated from God (Ephesians 2:1, 2:16).
② Humanity committed the sin of disobeying God and became captives to Satan (John 8:44, Ephesians 2:2–3, 1 Corinthians 10:20). This results in curses, destiny, and generational problems. Salvation means escaping from this devil (Luke 1:71).
③ For this reason, the Son of God came (1 John 3:8). We have been now transferred into His kingdom. In Christ, we become sons of God, with nothing to fear (John 1:12, Rom 8:15–17). With the authority of the name of Christ the Son, even if we fail temporarily, we will ultimately have victory (Romans 16:20, James 4:7, Revelation17:14, Revelation 21:7). He will govern us forever. This is the kingship of Christ.
2) In Him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (14).
① The consequence of human sin was scary (Genesis 3:16–19, Romans 5:12, Romans 6:17). The problem is that no matter how hard we try to live righteously, we cannot meet God's standard (Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23).
② That is why the Son of God Himself died for us (1 Peter 3:18). He became the mediator. That was the atonement. He clothed us in the blood of Christ so that we are made righteous and we will be sanctified until our salvation is made complete in the end (Philippians 1:6). We are lacking, but are made to now boldly approach God’s throne of grace (Hebrews 4:15–16). This is the priesthood of Christ.
③ Now those who have received this grace are commanded to show compassion and forgive (Ephesians 4:32). Satan’s final aim is to make us fall, accuse us, and render us as failures.
3) In Him, all the fullness of God dwells (19) and He reconciled all things to Himself (20)
① This is why it is said Christ is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). He is the way to meet God, the truth that defeats lies, and the life that conquers death. This is the Prophethood of Christ.
② The path we walk is not just any path. It is a journey prepared by (the covenant journey). So no problem is truly a problem, and no blessing or answer is a product of our works or efforts.
③ People like Moses, David, and even Paul were full of flaws, but God used them. Through suffering and failure, they met and experienced God (pilgrim’s journey, journey of the remained). Eventually, they became masterpieces that saved their generation (evangelist's journey, conqueror's journey). Sharing this covenant and journey of Christ is the work of evangelism and missions, and the remnant ministry.
- Who is this Christ? Unique, absolute, and eternal blessings come from this. We must find our identity in this.
1) He is the image of the invisible God and the firstborn over all creation (15). The invisible God came in the flesh to carry our weaknesses and sins. This is the love of God. This is why we must look to Christ 24 hours and edit our lives through Him.
2) All things were created through Him (16–17). As the Creator, Christ can re-create us and the world. This is the power of God. Even when we are weak or in despair, we must look to God deeply. His power of re-creation will appear. This is the power of 25 hours. Design your life as you look upon this power of re-creation. From this comes the 300% masterpiece (100% to save myself, 100% to save the field, 100% to save the world and the next generation)
3) He established the church, and He is the head of the church (18). God raised us, who are the weakest, to become the church and one body. This includes the individual church, local church, and global church.
① God wants to reveal His glory through the church. That is why the church is His glory and masterpiece. Live a church-centered life. Find all answers in the pulpit, have fellowship, and pray together (Acts 2:42).
② Do not become someone who judges or criticizes others. Become a helper. Reflect deeply on what it means to be one body. If you suffer for the church, do so with faith that you are filling yourself with Christ's remaining afflictions (24).
③ The mission of the church is to save all nations. Your lives must be designed with this. God wants the mystery of Christ to be richly revealed among the Gentiles (27). The one person you meet, pray for, and support may be the one to save a nation. This is the blessing of eternity (Revelation 8:9-12).
Conclusion - Verse 23 says if we continue in faith toward Christ (only), and are not moved from the hope of the gospel (uniqueness), God will fulfill all His work (masterpiece of re-creation). May our lives become established as the systems for this blessing.
Christ Who Came as the Son (Colossians 1:13–20) Colossians 1:13–20

Complete and Sufficient Gospel (Philippians 4:11–19) 7/20/2025
This passage is the conclusion of the book of Philippians. Paul, who was imprisoned at the time, did not fall into discouragement or despair. Rather, he wrote Philippians as a testimony of the deep realization and enjoyment of the gospel, which he considered the greatest gift from God and the absolute solution to all life’s problems.
Let’s briefly summarize the past three weeks of messages.
Philippians 1 is the absolute and eternal gospel. God prepared the gospel before eternity for our salvation, then He chose us, and gave the gospel to bless us eternally. The one who began this good work will complete it until the end.
Philippians 2 is the gospel of unique blessings. God humbled Himself, came to earth, and die for us. No one else could atone for our sins, and no one else did. That is why it is the only gospel, and with it comes the unique blessings.
Philippians 3 is the surpassing gospel, greater than everything else. So, there is no reason to be discouraged or despair. Problems are an opportunity to actually experience the power of the gospel. We live as those who are captured by the gospel (journey).
Philippians 4, today’s passage, is the complete and sufficient gospel. Everything is found in the gospel, in Christ. We are those who possess what is His. 2 Corinthians 4:6–9 calls this treasure in jars of clay. What is the treasure? It is the life, authority, power, and blessing given to us the moment we were saved. We already possess it.
- This is the fruit of life of the one who realizes this mystery and holds this assurance. The fruits of life that come from experiencing and enjoying Christ is what we call the fruit of healing, maturity, and sanctification (refer to Wednesday service).
1) We have no reason to be offended or be hurt by others. There is no reason to fight or compete.
① Once you realized the enormous blessing of the gospel you have, your self-worth will be overflowing. It is not pride, but confidence. With that self-worth, even when you don’t compete or fight, God allows you to overcome. Even when you yield, God gives you greater things. Abraham and Isaac yielded to their enemies. David yielded completely to King Saul. We know the results.
② In verse 2, there was conflict between two women in the Philippian church. They seem to have been influential individuals. While working hard, they may have struggled over invisible leadership (hegemony). If Christ is truly our Lord (1), and our names are written in the Book of Life, there is no need for such conflict(3). Each person is just doing the Lord’s work, and the reward is already recorded by God (Revelation 20:12). We are to wait for God’s eternal judgment and recognition, which is more important than human judgment and approval.
2) We can rejoice and give thanks in all circumstances.
① Paul uses the word "rejoice" at least 18 times in Philippians, written from prison.
He says that if we lay aside all anxiety and pray with thanksgiving, God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (6-7). We must train ourselves, even intentionally, to live a joyful and thankful life.
② If you live stressed because of people, or oppressed by your environment, it ultimately kills you. That is Satan’s deception and goal. We, who are saved and blessed, cannot live deceived and oppressed all our lives because of people or circumstances.
- From this point, the Holy Spirit begins to govern us from within, and God’s work begins. God’s kingdom comes upon our hearts.
1) God’s hidden purpose in the problem
is revealed, and everything works together for good, right in the devil’s face for him to see (Romans 8:28). When persecuted unfairly and driven away, they silently held onto the gospel and proclaimed it, and Antioch church was born (Acts 11:19–21). The road to Asia was blocked, so they silently prayed and waited, then the door to European missions opened. It was life’s turning point. The Holy Spirit had blocked their way (Acts 16:1–14). Therefore, in every problem, we must seek God’s good purpose. In every situation, think on this (8). The God of peace will be with you (9).
2) From this point, we gain a heart of contentment in all things (11). In short, the greed in us will disappear. So the sense of competition we feel from comparing ourselves with others vanishes. Even if we are in poverty, we are fine. Even if we are in abundance, we are not arrogant (12).
3) From this point, we can challenge in faith for what God has prepared (13). This is not just pursuing our personal ambitions. That is a worldly kind of ambition (“be ambitious”). Rather, God gives us the desire for His will and fulfills it (Philippians 2:13). God reveals His will, gives us faith, and even when conditions are lacking, we can still take bold steps of faith.
- From this point, our everyday life, our 365 days, and our eternity becomes God's eternal masterpiece.
Our lives are no longer just chronos (chronological time), but it becomes kairos that fulfills God’s absolute plan.
1) 24 hours is my everyday. Our everyday becomes a kairos moment that fulfills God's plan (2 Corinthians 6:2). Each day is precious. We do the rightful things, the same ordinary things, but God’s masterpiece is revealed. So, we must enjoy the blessing of “3 Todays” every day (the Word given to me today, prayer topic, the blessing of evangelism).
2) 25 hours is a time when God’s unprecedented and never-repeated power is revealed. It may seem like a time of despair and discouragement, but it’s actually Kairos in which God fulfills His hidden will (Jeremiah 33:3). It’s a time of re-creation in which He changes me, my reality, and even the world. Do not be deceived by the problem of your today, but enjoy this within your 365 days, within your years.
3) Eternity is the time of our future that God has prepared. It is a time of the manifestation of God’s eternal inheritance, legacy, and crown (2 Timothy 4:8).
① Eternity means no end, infinity. So our time on earth is not everything. That’s why Jesus said to store treasures in heaven, not on earth (Matthew 6:20), and to set our hearts on things above (Colossians 3:1). My prayer, devotion, and labor today become eternal treasures stored in heaven.
② Eternity is only enjoyed by spiritual beings, and it is when spiritual works occur. The flesh has no concept of eternity. From this comes spirituality, the blessing of being a spiritual summit, and works that transcend time and space. What does transcending time and space mean? It means transcending our wounds, weaknesses, and limits. It means overcoming the world and the forces of darkness. Then the evil spirits that deceive us for a lifetime and cover the whole earth will collapse. From there, God's eternal masterpiece emerges.
Conclusion - When we hold onto and enjoy this complete and sufficient gospel, He will richly supply all our needs (19). No matter how lacking we are, or how small the task, it becomes an eternal masterpiece that glorifies God forever (20). May you hold onto the complete and sufficient gospel of Christ and may everything in your life become God's eternal masterpiece.
