Stand as Eternal Soldiers of Christ (Isaiah 62:6–11)                                              4/6/2025

The term “Soldier of Christ” is the final identity that believers must hold onto to protect and enjoy all the blessings of their identity. Identity is not just a formal status or position. It comes with glory and blessings to be enjoyed. From the moment of salvation, we gain many identities. Children of God (Romans 8:15–17), saints (1 Corinthians 3:16), royal priests (1 Peter 2:9), disciples of Christ (John 14:12–14)—each comes with incredible glory and blessings.

To truly enjoy the glory and blessings of all these identities, the final identity we need is that of a “Soldier of Christ.” That’s because there is an enemy trying to steal and deceive us. Without an enemy, there is no need for an army. We don’t need an army to steal from others. We need one to protect what’s ours so we can fully enjoy it.

  1. From the beginning, life has been attacked by the enemy. That is the event of Genesis 3.

1) The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil warned humanity, created in God’s image and blessings, that there is an enemy. “You will surely die when you eat of it” (Genesis 2:17). This was a warning that there is one who deceives to bring death. Even now, these warnings are around us. That’s why we are told to stay alert (1 Peter 5:8–9).

2) Satan doesn’t have overwhelming power.

Humans were created in God’s image, enjoyed God, and were the most honored of all (Psalm 8:4–5). Because Satan can’t overpower us, he deceives, tempts, and lies to separate us from God. After that, he also breaks human relationships (Genesis 3:10–12). He’s still doing it today. He uses tactics like fear, anxiety, anger, and despair through failures and difficult environments.

3) The Bible says Satan’s work will deepen (Isaiah 60:2), and the battle will intensify. Satan knows his time is short before eternal judgment (Revelation 12:12). The state of the world and even churches today are signs of the end times (Matthew 24, 2 Timothy 3). He targets evangelists and evangelizing churches (1 Corinthians 15:32). That’s why we are told to stand as strong soldiers. Not just to win, but to receive the eternal crown of victory that is promised to us (2 Timothy 4:7–8).

  1. For this spiritual victory, God sent Christ. As our eternal Priest, He bore all sin and curse (Colossians 1:13–14). As our eternal Prophet, He became our way (John 14:6). As our eternal King, He crushed the head of Satan (Genesis 3:15) and raises us to fight forces of Satan and overcome (1 Corinthians 15:55–57).

1) Christ is the captain leading this spiritual battle (Exodus 17:15–16, “Jehovah Nissi” means banner, commander). In the end times, many tribulations will come. But the captain will win the battle (Revelation 17:14).

2) Believers are soldiers of Christ following the captain, our King of kings. The Israelites who were rescued from 400 years of curses were called God’s army (Exodus 12:41). To the Israelites in despair during exile, God showed a vision of dry bones becoming a great army (Ezekiel 37:10). This is the absolute reason for remnants to rise as good soldiers of Christ who will lead the future (2 Timothy 2:3).

3) This is why we must enjoy the grace of Christ and continue three battles until we stand before God (1 Corinthians 10:11–12). We may stumble temporarily, but final victory is what matters. So we must not give up.

① Battle against self (Matthew 16:24, 1 Corinthians 15:31). Satan attacks our hidden wounds(fear, worry, unbelief, greed, pride, competition, strife).
② Battle against the world (Ephesians 2:2–3). In the world, there are endless temptations. It makes us neglect the spiritual things and chase physical and worldly pleasures.
③ Battle against Satan (Matthew 4:1–11). Recognize Satan’s works behind all greed, failure, suffering, and pain and break the forces of darkness in reality.

  1. To win the battle, we must build a system that enables victory (bartizan).

David built 1,000 watchtowers and stored weapons, always prepared for battle (Song of Songs 4:4, Ephesians 6:12). When we build our bartizans, God will send watchmen who never rest (Isaiah 62:6–7).

1) You must establish an imprint system that protects and revives you (7 Journeys).
① The Word of covenant must be imprinted in your system that drives your thoughts and emotions. This system (bartizan) forms as we continuously hear (Romans 10:17) and meditate on the gospel Word.
② It is important to meditate for just 10 minutes in the morning, afternoon, and evening on the message that you have organized. Deep breathing during this time revives the brain and body. Satan attacks our bodies too.

2) Build a root system that saves not just yourself, but your family, community, workplace, and church (7 Watchtowers).
① When you meditate on the Word and pray, the covenant is rooted deeply within your soul. The deeper the roots, the less we are shaken by storms. Fruits will grow to save others.
② This is where strength from above comes. Transcending time and space, power of the throne that bring unprecedented works, power of light, power of the Holy Spirit, and power to change the future. With this power, nothing will be stolen or lost. It’s the “blessing of the courtyard of the sanctuary” (blessing of saving church, 8–9).

3) Ultimately, you can challenge toward a system that transforms your nature to save the 237 nations and 5,000 people groups (7 Milestones). “Go out of the city, clear the road, raise a banner (the banner of Christ and victory) for the nations” (10).

① Our pain is not ours alone. The entire world and all nations are in suffering. Raise the banner of Christ, proclaim the covenant, and wage spiritual war for them.
② Pray and commit to mission fields, missionaries, and all nations, TCKs, CCKs, NCKs. Salvation will come to them, and God will reward us eternally (11). Build a highway within. Become a vessel who can embrace and help anyone (God is the vessel). See conflict, pain, failure, and suffering as God’s time schedule for making that vessel.

Conclusion – Those who overcome will be acknowledged as eternal children of God (Revelation 21:7). They will reign forever together in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 22:5). May you stand as soldiers of Christ who will enjoy this eternal victory.
