70 Disciples that Save the Church (Acts 1:12-14) 7/3/2022
The most important reason church lay leaders and believers must receive God’s blessings and answers is to establish and save the church. Only then, will we be able to continue to receive strength, save our fields, and save our posterity. This is because the church is our spiritual family that revives us as individuals, a system that saves the field, and a platform that supports our future generations.
We are facing an age in which churches all over the world are crumbling and closing doors. The book of Revelation is a part of the Bible that prophesizes in detail what kind of curses and disasters will fill the earth in the end times because of human corruption and Satan’s works. It says that the Satan’s ultimate target of attack is the church, because if a church falls, everything else follows. Churches these days are losing hold of this. However, there exist churches of the remining ones (Revelations 12:17), and churches that will overcome that darkness (Revelations 17:14).
What kind of church is a church of the remaining ones and a church that has victory? Our church must be within this. There is one core fact. We must enter the essence of a church that God desires. Whether we live our lives or do something (studies, businesses), the mystery of true success and victory is found within this. In the passage, it tells us why God did not use the magnificent temple of Jerusalem, but rather the humble and persecuted Mark’s Upper Room.
- The first essence of the church is the significance of a church. This is the church’s fundamentals.
1) A church is a place that the triune God himself established and blessed (church of God).
The Garden of Eden was the beginning of church. It was a place that God has established, resided in, and blessed. Satan made us lose hold of this and began to destroy the church.
① Church is the house of God (Hebrews 3:6). God the Father himself established it, and His children gather in it. Therefore, the church is a spiritual family. In that church, believers must unite and search for God’s desire and focus on fulfilling His will. Satan tries to destroy the church with the thoughts of the majority, rather than the thoughts of the top minority that has power in the world.
② Church is the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:23). The people who have been saved by the price of Christ’s blood gather to form the body of Christ. The church must allow them to gather to exalt Christ, proclaim Christ, and unite within him. Satan makes us lose hold of this and continues to destroy the church.
③ Church is the temple (1 Corinthians 3:16). It is because the church is a place in which Holy Spirit indwells and works. This is why God did not use the church of Jerusalem, but instead the church of Mark’s upper room. Although the church of Jerusalem was extravagant and many prominent people gathered there, the work of the Holy Spirit had left. Mark’s upper room was rather shabby and consisted of only a few members, the people who gathered were people of prayer, and the work of the Holy Spirit came upon the place (Acts 2:1-4).
2) If we understand these meanings of a church, we can see how we must love the church and devote ourselves. This is what Jesus did when he went up to the temple. It is written, “zeal for your house will consume me” (John 2:17). Paul confessed, “Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church” (Colossians 1:24).
- The second essence of the church is the church’s foundation.
Even when you construct a house, the foundation must be sound to be strong. This applies to studies, as well as businesses.
1) The foundation of everything must begin with only gospel. Mark’s upper room church had this clear foundation. The gospel is the mystery by which we can escape from the curse of Genesis 3, have victory in our spiritual battles, and restore God’s blessings. Individuals were not the only ones that were cursed by Genesis 3. The land was cursed, and all the work that is done by humans were cursed (Genesis 3:17). The only secret to coming out of this curse is only gospel; only Christ (Acts 4:12). That is when individuals as well as the church becomes a rock. The gates of Hades will not overcome it. We will enjoy the keys to heaven (Matthew 16:16-19).
2) The next foundation that follows the gospel is prayer. Mark’s upper room church had this clear foundation (Verse 14, Acts 2:42). Upon those who hold onto this gospel and enjoy 24 prayers, the 9 blessings of the throne will come (church is the shadow of the throne).
① Upon individuals and the church, the power of the Holy Spirit will come (blessing of 3 lives).
② That is when we can receive the power to transcend the world, time and space, and the work of Satan (3 transcendent).
③ Upon individuals, the church, and our fields, unprecedented works will arise (blessing of 3 unprecedented works). Mark’s upper room, that did not have much and were persecuted because of the gospel, enjoyed this blessing. They experienced signs (evidence) daily, their finances were recovered, and number of saved people grew each day (Acts 2:43-47).
- The third essence of the church is the church’s basics. It is knowing what God desires to do through us (mission). If we align ourselves and the church to the work that God desires, everything will become God’s blessings. The church’s mission is to save everything through the gospel and prayer (evangelism and missions).
1) The reason the Israelites became captive and colonized was that they lost hold of this. They only focused on themselves as the chosen people and their nation as the blessed nation. They lost hold of God’s will for all nations. This is why God tells the Israelites as they were held captive, “raise a banner for all nations) (Isaiah 62:10).
2) This is the final reason that the temple of Jerusalem ultimately crumbled and has failed to recover. Jesus expressed his anger when he walked into the church of Jerusalem (John 2:13-16). The temple (field of gentiles, field of children) had become a nest for merchants and thieves.
3) All we need to do is to embrace this mission in our hearts and devote in prayer. This is the blessing of saving the 3 ages.
① We must save people of diverse nations to raise workers for the 237 nations and 5000 people groups (Matthew 28:18-20). This is God’s conclusion.
② We must heal the diseased and crumbled souls by sharing the only gospel in our fields (Mark 16:15-20). This is God’s heart.
③ This is our reason for concentrating on ministry that saves our future generations and raises remnant summits (John 21:15-17). This is God’s future. Try focusing on one person. Our remnant training programs that will continue this year are extremely important. I hope we can pray and devote together.
Conclusion – We must restore the essence of church. What significance does the church have in your life? The gospel and the blessing of prayer that the church must enjoy is the blessing we will enjoy. Church members and lay leaders that will devote themselves to multi-ethnic ministry, field healing, and summit remnant ministry must arise. Those people are called the 70 workers. May our small prayers and devotions be within this.
